2015

We lost 2 dear friends in 2015.

Our sweet dog Ruby, who was a faithful companion for many years.  And Chico, a quiet, peaceful gelding that Carl worked with.

Both will be missed.
Picture
You may remember that Ruby had a grand adventure in the Pecos Wilderness of New Mexico in 2006.
Her bravery during that ordeal inspired Carl's song: "
Ruby's Trial".

Tashi is still queen of the house -

And the three chickens are still laying!

Carl made it to Atlanta in April, and helped out with Food Not Bombs.  Marlon and Earthworm are both doing fine, continuing their hands-on work to make positive, meaningful social change, and to help those in need.  EW is mostly up out of the chair, and is driving again!
Picture
Judy graduated from App Academy in San Francisco, and took a 6 month job teaching there.  She just recently accepted another tech job in the San Francisco area.

Picture
Her partner Matt recently changed jobs and now works for "Linked In".
Picture
Judy moved her horse Cali to a stable near her in California, and rides almost every day.
Picture
We sold Judy's car,

and bought a new Subaru for Paula,

AND an electric bike!

Sky turned 25.  She is no longer working at CapTel, and is looking for more interesting work now.

Martha came for a visit.  We opened the cabin in the spring, and we closed in the fall.

Paula took a break from acting in 2015.  She served in a supporting role instead, as Assistant Stage Manager for "Death of a Salesman" at the Bartell Theatre.
               And, Sky went hang gliding!

                       Here's the video

Carl spent a lot of time with the horses.

And he volunteered at Three Gaits, a therapeutic riding center.  Paula got out for an occasional trail ride.
Carl was very pleased that one of the horses he helped start became a Madison Mounted police horse. Look for Dr. B on the streets of Madison, helping to stop crime!

Mom continues to be very active, and is enjoying her new home at Stonecroft Village.  She hosted our Thanksgiving dinner at Stonecroft this year.
Picture
Mom sponsored a scholarship program for health science students at Illinois Valley Community College, where Dad completed his first 2 years of pre-med studies.

Mom also donated a bench at Lake Mendota in Dad's memory.

Carl & Paula participated in Make Music Madison.

And they became a Renaissance Lord and Lady for an evening at Prairie

We even have a video of that!

P & C spent a week exploring the upper Mississippi River valley.  And camping with the Prairie RE folks.

Paula taught a few ESL classes at MATC.  She continued to volunteer at Orchard Ridge middle school, help with the men's shelter breakfasts, and with The Road Home dinners and overnights for homeless families.  Paula and Carl both volunteered at the Allied Drive food pantry once a month.

Carl taught the Pre-K-1 class at Prairie in the spring, then became a Hogwarts professor to teach the 3-4-5 class in the fall.
He continued to serve as the accompanist for the Prairie choir.  Paula sang soprano in the choir.  Paula also served as the Prairie Religious Education chair and helped teach the Pre-school class.
